Why Andrew started Color Splash.
Andrew spent his twenties in the trades — painting, finish carpentry, small-scale remodels. He worked for crews that did it right and for crews that cut corners, and the difference between them wasn't talent. It was whether the owner actually gave a damn about the work.
When he started Color Splash Painting in 2023, he wrote down three things on a whiteboard in his garage:
- The quote is the price. No "we found something" mid-job.
- Cleaner than we found it. Every single day.
- Answer your own phone. Customers call, you pick up.
Those three rules are still how the company operates. Andrew's cell number is still on the truck. He still runs estimates and walkthroughs on select projects. That kind of responsiveness — even after hours — is what we build into the whole team, because your project doesn't stop when business hours do.
A few things about Andrew.
Born & raised
Pittsburgh transplant turned Lowcountry local. Moved to Hilton Head before starting the company — and hasn't looked back.
Hands-on, always
Andrew still runs estimates, walkthroughs, and quality checks on select projects, alongside our project managers and estimating team. If you want a company that runs on real standards, that's what you're hiring.
Teaches the crew
New hires train through a mix of hands-on field work, systems training, and time with our crew leads — all came up on Andrew's standards, not whatever the last shop they worked for accepted.
Shows up in person
Every crew lead meets homeowners on day one. Final walkthroughs are run by your Project Manager, with Andrew stepping in on select projects. No black-box delegation.
Proof, not promises
Written quotes, references, and documentation — ask for whatever you need to feel confident. You should expect that from any painter you hire.
Local, for real
HQ on Hilton Head, second shop in Charleston. He lives here. Your neighbors are his neighbors.
"I started this company because homeowners deserve a painter who shows up when they say they will, charges what they quoted, and leaves the site cleaner than they found it. That's the standard on every Color Splash job — and my name is on every one of them."
If that sounds like an obvious commitment, it is. It just shouldn't be rare in this industry — and somehow it is. That's why I started Color Splash.
